Director AR Murugadoss's Sarkar features Vijay and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. It was a political thriller which was loved by the critics and highly appreciated by the audiences. In Sarkar, Ilayathalapathy Vijay plays an NRI who believes that one vote can make or break the fortunes of a party in the polls. Vijay is a top industrialist who comes to India to exercise his voting rights only to find that his vote has already been cast. He then vows to change the corrupt system.
Sarkar has turned out to be the second highest grosser of 2018 across Chennai. The music in the movie which also received rave reviews was composed by SS Thaman. Sarkar was released in Telugu and Tamil. According to trade reports, the Telugu version of Sarkar has not only set the cash registers ringing at the box office but also turned out to be a blockbuster hit at the ticket window.
According to sources, the political thriller has earned 8.45 Cr shares at the box office in the two Telugu States- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
