While audiences across India thronged the theatres this weekend to watch the recent Salman Khan starrer Race 3, situation in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is quite opposite. Race 3 has garnered Rs 28 crore, Rs 36 crore, and Rs 37 crore respectively through Friday to Sunday making it to the 100 crore club but audiences in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar skipped the Salman Khan multi-starrer for a Bhojpuri patriotic movie.

The film, 'Border', starring Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav alias Nirahua, depicts the struggle of a farmer's son to become an Army officer and his spirit of giving away his life for the country. The theme has resonated with the people and is largely based on the motto of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.'

While the film's collections in the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are still to be ascertained, it is believed that it managed to bring in more people than Race 3. In fact, the craze for Nirahua in that region is by no means lesser than the national craze for Salman Khan. People are queuing outside the theatres for tickets and in some areas they have even barged inside the theatres.

In a post shared by the producer of the film, Pravesh Lal on Instagram, an impatient crowd is seen pushing and shoving in order to get inside the theatre.

‘Border’ was extensively promoted in Bihar, not just by the Bhojpuri film industry but also by people from Bollywood which include Star director Rohit Shetty who had urged people to watch the film. The cast and crew of the film even played a promotional cricket match prior to the film's release.

Other notable actors featuring in this Bhojpuri blockbuster are Amrapali Dubey, Pravesh Lal Yadav, Shubhi Sharma, Vikrant Singh and Sushil Singh, among others.
