NALGONDA: The trial of Hajipur serial murder case is expected to be completed soon as per reports. While the accused M Srinivas Reddy is in Warangal Central Jail, the trial in the case began in the last week of October before a local fast track court in Nalgonda. The accused was questioned on Thursday and more than 100 witnesses and officials related to the case investigation were questioned by the trial court in the past two days. The parents of the three victims also deposed in court and the trial is expected to be completed within two days and the verdict will be served by the end of the months.
Bhongir ACP, Bhujanga Rao said to a leading daily, that all the evidences and DNA sample reports submitted by the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory were handed over to the fast-track trial court which clearly point out his role in the gruesome crime.
The Bommalramaram Police had arrested M Srinivasa Reddy an AC technician in April 2019 on charges of raping and murdering three minor girls in the Hajipur area. It is alleged that Srinivas was also accused in the rape and murder of another woman in Kurnool besides these three minors.
The Rachakonda police had filed three separate charge sheets and submitted forensic lab reports, technical evidences and eyewitness accounts to the court as part of evidences in the month of July.
With the alleged encounter of the four accused in the brutal rape and murder of Disha the Veterinary doctor near Shadnagar in the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Hajipur case had once again come to the fore. The Hajipur villagers and the family members of the three victims were demanding that a similar punishment be meted out to Srinivas similar to the Disha case accused.
They also expressed their ire that since the incident took place in April 2019, the charge sheet was filed in August and the trial commenced in the month of October. They saw no hope in getting justice, if this was the delay in getting the accused convicted, they said. They also said that the Hanumakonda rapist Praveen was given death penalty, but that was also commuted to life imprisonment by the higher courts. They were losing faith in the judiciary and this kind of an extra-judicial measure was needed to weed out such psychos in the society, they said.
Meanwhile the family of a teenager who was raped and killed by her boyfriend on her birthday in Warangal district also demanded that the accused in their case should also be shot dead in the same manner as the four accused in Hyderabad case.
