VIJAYAWADA: The police on Monday arrested a man named Prakash from Bhavanipuram in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, after a seven-year-old girl was found dead at his residence on Monday evening.
Bhavanipuram police station sub-inspector said that on Sunday night at around 11pm, a man had filed a complaint about his seven-year-old daughter named Movva Dwaraka who was missing.
"The parents searched for her in the neighbourhood but were unable to find her. After registering the missing complaint, police searched the locality last night and even today. They had also deployed dog squad to search the missing minor," said the official.
"Today evening, the body of the minor was found packed in a gunny bag in a cupboard in his house next to Anil the girl's father house. Prakash, who resides in that house has been detained. The body was sent to a government hospital of post mortem," he said
The girl was studying in the second standard in Nallagunta village, where she was residing with her parents. The accused was caught after the police verified his call data. It is reported that he had called the minors mother several times leading to the suspicion that he was having an affair with the woman. Police are interrogating the accused to ascertain the fact whether the child was an obstacle to their affair or due to any other enmity that made him murder the child. (ANI inputs)
