LPG Blast: Siblings Killed, Father Injured, Police Suspect Suicide Pact

Visakhapatnam: In a tragic accident, two siblings died and their father was seriously injured after a gas cylinder exploded in their house at Sagar Nagar under Arilova Police Station limits in Visakhapatnam. The explosion is said to have happened in the early hours of Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Lavanya (35), her brother Satish Chandra (38) and their father Challa Umamaheswara Rao (65) suffered over 80 per cent burn injuries, was admitted to KG Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

However, based on the information given by the neighbours the police are now suspecting the blast to that of a suicide pact by the family. As per details given by the neighbours, Umamaheswara Rao was a Junior Engineer who retired from the RTC. His wife died a few years ago and he was living with his children. He was also said to be suffering with ailments and the children not being married, coupled with depression might have led to them to leak the gas and commit suicide. The police have shifted the bodies to King George Hospital for autopsy.The Arilova police registered a case and investigation is on.
