Vijayawada: A seventeen year-old girl who went shopping, disappeared without a trace in Kankipadu village and mandal. It is learnt that the girl, K. Teja went shopping on Thursday evening in Ankammagudi Market in the village. When her parents noticed that the girl had not returned, they lodged a complaint with the Kankipadu police, who registed a case under the missing persons category. Police have launched an investigation into her disappearance and whereabouts.

Police Crack Rompicherla Minor Girl Kidnap Case

Rompicherla: Police on Friday arrested the prime accused in the kidnap of a 14 year-old, an event which sent waves of shock through the state. The girl, a ninth grade student in a private school here was abducted on July 20, by a dance master Pavan Kumar (24), his brother Sai Kumar (19) and their friends, Govindarajulu (23) and Ramya (22). The incident took place in Rompicherla. The kidnapper then took the girl to Bengaluru on a bike and then in a bus to Hyderabad. Later, he took her to Coimbatore. The local police in Rompicherla swung into action and launched an investigation. While they nabbed the other three accused, the prime suspect Pavan Kumar was at large. The accused sought to quietly drop the girl in Rompicherla and do a vanishing act. Accordingly, at 4.00 pm on Friday, he attempted to drop her off at Rompicherla Cross near the Checkpost when the police nabbed him. By then a case under Nirbhaya and POSCO acts had been registered against him. The accused has been sent remand for 15 days by the Pileru Court. Police have further stated that another accused, Ramya, would soon be arrested.
