Hyderabad: In the absence of the parents, a minor girl was sexually abused by her neighbour at her home in Medipally. The incident took place on Sunday morning when the victim's mother left for work at 6 am. The girl was at home along with her nine-year-old brother. Meanwhile, the accused, who resides in the neighbourhood visited the minor girl's residence.

A mechanic by profession, the accused sent the brother out of the house asking tea for him. Once the victim's brother left the house, the accused sexually abused the 11-year-old girl and left before the brother's return.

Upon coming to know of the incident, the victim's mother lodged a complaint with the Medipally police at around 11.30am. However, due to the lack of action by the police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) intervened into the matter. Following this, the victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination in the evening.

An FIR was filed by the police on Sunday evening. Reports suggest that the police were occupied with arrangements for IPL final.
