Yadadri: There seems to be more to the sensational rape and murder case of 14-year old Sravani to be brushed aside as a one off incident. In a shocking development on Monday afternoon, the Rachakonda Police found another dead body of a teen girl, who was later identified as Manisha.
According to the police, Manisha, who also hailed from Hazipur and was studying Intermediate, went missing for over a month now. She did not return home in the evening on the particular day after going to college in the morning. Her parents searched for their missing daughter, but refrained themselves from lodging a complaint with police thinking it would bring disrepute to the family. As their efforts went in vain in finding their daughter, Manisha’s parents concluded that she might have run away with her lover. They have been with the belief that she would return to them someday. But that was not to be.
As the police discovered the body of 14-year old Sravani two days back in an old well outside of Hazipur, the Rachakonda police, who have attached a great deal of importance to the case, also traced the body of Manisha. Police concluded that the body indeed belonged to Manisha based on a bag and the girl’s identity card found near the body.
With another murder of a teen girl coming to light in Hazipur, police are seeing a pattern in the way two murders are linked. Police say that the accused in Sravani’s rape and murder case, who is currently in their custody, have prima facie accepted his role in both the murders. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is already put in place to investigate the rape and murder of Sravani is now trying to connect the dots and see if there is larger plot and conspiracy to the incidents of missing teen girls from Hazipur. The investigation by Rachakonda Police is in full swing. On the other hand, fear gripped Hazipur village with two murders coming to light.
