Srikakulam: A case of double murder cum dacoity was committed in a house in Vijayanagar Colony, at Bondilipuram, of Srikakulam Town, and came to light recently.
According to the Srikakulam police, Abdul Khadar Jilani lived with his family consisting of his mother, wife and their two sons, in the third floor of an apartment in Vijayanagar Colony, at Bondilipuram, of Srikakulam Town.
On Thursday he left for work and his sons went to school. When the children came back in the evening and knocked on the door, no one opened it. After waiting for some time, they called their father to open the house, he told them to get the second set of duplicate keys from their relative's house which they did. Upon opening the door to the house they were shocked to see their mother and grandmother lying in a pool of blood and they immediately alerted the neighbours and their father, who in turn informed the police.
Jilani's wife Meherunnisa (37) and his mother Zohara Bai (65) were found brutally murdered in their house along with Rs 4 lakhs cash, gold ornaments and few important documents missing from the house. T Panasa Reddy, Additional SP , Srikakulam said that the police along with a clues team also found two opened suitcases and that Meherunnisa had wounds to her head and wrist, while Zohara Bai had severe wounds on her legs and hands as well, pointing to the fact they were beaten with a heavy object. They also found chili powder sprinkled over the place to prevent any detection from the dog squads.
A case of murder and dacoity has been registered by the Srikakulam police who are also investigating whether the murder was an insider's job as the door was locked from outside.
