Nagole, Hyderabad: A woman decided to get rid of her alcoholic husband with the help of her relatives. The incident took place under Keesara police station limits. Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat revealed the details to the media on Saturday.

Boni Srinivas of Adraspalli under Shamirpet police station limits, was married to Swapna of the same village 14 years ago. They have two children. Srinivas, a daily-wage labourer, who got addicted to alcohol, would torture his wife frequently under the influence of liquor and would also quarrel with his in-laws.

Swapna and her parents decided to eliminate Srinivas and as a part of this plan, she reached out to her maternal uncle, Yadagiri, who agreed to carry out the murder. He also took some money as advance for this heinous act. Yadagiri, his friend Ramesh, Swapna and her parents, Lakshmi and Mallesham hatched a plan to get rid of Srinivas.

On January 29, Yadagiri and Ramesh got Srinivas drunk and took him to a forest area near Ravalakolu village in the Dharmavaram area. After killing Srinivas, they set his body afire with petrol.

When Srinivas went missing, his mother lodged a police complaint in the Shamirpet police station. Meanwhile, villagers who spotted a dead body in the forest, informed the police, who after investigation, determined it to be that of the missing Srinivas.

As police began to piece together bits of the puzzle, found a cap of a liquor bottle. Based on the bar code on the cap, they tracked it to Jai Durga Wines at Puduru crossroads and examined the CCTV footage in the area. The visuals revealed Yadagiri and Ramesh taking Srinivas with them, following which the miscreants were nabbed by the police. All the accused including Swapna and her parents, were arrested and sent to remand.
