Vijayawada: Florida-based NRI, Jayaram Chigurupati was found dead in his car on Highway No 65 near Aitavaram village, near Nandigama Mandal, in Krishna district late on Thursday night . The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood in the back seat of a car following what could be seen as a head injury, clearly pointing to a murder. Liquor bottles and his shoes were also found along with the body.
Speaking to Sakshi, the District Superintendent of Police Sarvasresth Tripathy ascertained that it was Jayaram Chigurupati who was currently working as the head of a pharma company in Hyderabad. He was also working as the Director of Coastal Bank and partner of a Telugu Channel called Express TV. Police are yet to establish if he was alone or if someone else was with him . They are in the process of collecting CCTV footage of Jayaram’s car from the toll gates and have also spoken to his employees. They are also verifying his call data and his bank account transactions over the past few days.
Jayaram was arrested in January last year on the charge of non-payment of salaries to employees. He was also accused of non-payment of salaries/compensation amounts to the employees who were removed from service. It is alleged that he also involved in other cheating cases which were being investigated by the Telangana Police. Jayaram Chigurupati is also Chairman of Cypress Capital Group in Palm Beach, Florida where lives and also runs Cypress Trust Company and Hemarus Therapeutics Ltd.,
The watchman told the police that he had come from the US to India last month on business related work and that he had left Hyderabad for Vijayawada yesterday. His wife and children have been informed and they will also be questioned . The investigators are likely to probe the angle of whether he had any personal or business related enmity, once they reach Hyderabad, police said.
