Yadlapadu: Six people including a pregnant woman and her mother were killed in a terrible accident on Monday night at Timmapuram national highway 16. According to the police, the deceased were identified as Vegerla Jayasri (19), her mother Anasuya (40), Sunkara Rama Devi (37), her daughter Ramya (18), her son Srikanth (21) his friend Francis.

They were about to reach Gorantla from Timmapuram around 11:45 pm in a car. The speeding car hit a tractor going in the same direction. The front part of the car was completely smashed. The accident took place around 12:30 am, Jaya Sri who was pregnant and her mother Anasuya died on the spot. Rama Devi, Ramya,Srikanth and Francis were severely injured and died while undergoing treatment at Guntur hospital.

The locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted them to the Chilakaluripeta hospital, Guntur. They cleared the traffic and informed police. SI J Srinivas, CI S Vijayachandra reached the spot and collected the details. The police believe that high speed, fog and the tractor not displaying red stickers on its trolley are the main reasons for the accident.

Nagaraju and Jayasri (19) got married on August 2018. She was five months pregnant. On Monday, she came to her in-laws house for a ceremony. The accident took place when they were returning after the celebrations.

The trolley flipped on impact and in the process, Bosi Hanumantha Rao and Kalapala Ramesh in the tractor escaped with injuries. They were shifted to Chilakaluripeta government hospital.
