Hyderabad: A man committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving bus on Wednesday morning at Aliabad crossroads in Shameerpet. The police filed a case and are probing the reasons behind the suicide.

On Wednesday morning around 8:15, a man suddenly jumped in front of an RTC bus (AP 15 AZ 0165) which was about to reach Hyderabad from Shameerpet. Initially, it was reported that the incident happened due to the negligence of the bus driver who it was presumed, hit a pedestrian crossing the road. But in the CCTV footage, it was learned that the man himself jumped in front of the bus to end his life.

According to the Shameerpet sub-inspector Naveen Reddy, the victim was identified as L Sathyavan (33) who hails from Maharashtra. He used to work in Monarch Ergo, a private company at Rajabollaram, Hyderabad.

"It can be clearly seen in the CCTV footage that Sathyavan attempted suicide. He was waiting with a bag and watching the RTC bus coming closer, he ran and jumped," said the police.

The reasons behind the Sathyavan's suicide are yet to be known. The victim's family was informed and the body will be handed over to them when the post-mortem at Gandhi Hospital would be completed. A case was filed against the driver and the police started investigation.
