Visakhapatnam: A 17-year-old girl was raped and later killed. The incident took place on Tuesday night which came to light on the next day. The girl was found dead on Diwali.
According to the police, Pillala Padmavati (17) was the youngest daughter of Eeshwara Rao and Lakshmi. She was pursuing her Intermediate second year at the local government college. Meanwhile, she fell in love with a minor boy Raju who lived opposite to her house. Their parents learned of the matter and had warned them. On Tuesday night, Raju's friend birthday was celebrated by them. On Wednesday morning, the girl was found dead at the Forest depot.
CI Srinivasa Rao and SI Malleswara Rao reached the spot and collected the details. The dead body was in an unidentifiable stage as she was set ablaze with petrol. The police informed the clues team and dog squad. They examined the surrounding land and the dogs went to the church and stopped.
The victim's parents went to the police station to file a missing complaint after not being able to figure out her whereabouts. Later, they found Padmavati's dead body based on her belongings. The police took Raju and his other two friends into custody. They were sent to Anakapalli and started investigating them. The suspects are not yet confirmed as the accused, said the police. The body was sent to Visakhapatnam hospital for postmortem.
