Boduppal: A Intermediate student committed suicide on Wednesday at SR College, Boduppal. The incident took place under the limits of Medipalli police station limits. The deceased was identified as Sai Kiran (17) pursuing his Intermediate first year at SR College.

On Wednesday, when his roommates went for lunch, Sai Kumar hanged himself with a towel to a fan. The college staff learned of the matter and shifted him to Spark hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The victim's parents Lakshmi Narayana and Swathi alleged that the reason behind the suicide was the college staff who harassed him for the ranks. They demanded action against the accused.

Meanwhile, the college staff says that Sai Kumar committed suicide since he was not interested in studies. Sai Kumar joined the hostel on July 22 after moving from Narayana college in Singapore township. He attempted suicide at his previous college too. It is being said that he committed suicide since his parents joined him in the hostel against his wishes. He always wanted to stay as a paying guest, said the college staff.

The student associations and leaders of different political parties of the area protested at the college. They demand justice and asked the government to act against the college.
