Acid Thrown At School Teacher in Chintal

Hyderabad: A teacher working at a private school in Chintal suffered an acid attack while she was conducting tuition classes on Friday evening. The incident which occurred under Jeedimetla police station limits has sent shock waves in the area.

According to police, the victim Surya Kumari (45), who works as a school teacher at Siddhartha High School in Chintal was taking tuition classes at a private institute in the area. While she was busy with classes, Kumari received a message from a stranger asking her to come out of the place to meet her at around 6.30 pm. Thinking that the message was sent by some parent, she went out of the class and saw a man whose face was covered with a handkerchief. Before she realised what was happening, the man threw acid on her face and fled the spot.

Hearing her screams, other teachers and students immediately shifted her to Remedy Hospital in Kukatpally where she is undergoing treatment. As the teachers refused to tell the reason to the doctors, the staff alerted the police who rushed to the hospital around 8 pm and enquired about the incident.

After preliminary investigations, the police suspected that it might be a family dispute. They registered a case and are probing into the matter.
