Cong stalls house over defections - Sakshi Post

The Telangana State Assembly session began on a stormy note on Monday. The house boiled over the issue of defections.

The Congress MLAs wanted that the house take up a debate on the adjournment motion given by them on the issue of TRS encouraging defections. The Congress accused the TRS of encouraging defections. It said the TRS was resorting to unethical practices to increase its numbers. The TRS wanted the house to take up a debate immediately and suspend the question hour.
When the speaker refused to yield to their demands, the Congress MLAs wore black badges and protested at the podium. Unable to bring order to the house, the speaker adjourned the house initially for 10 minutes and later for another half-hour.
TRS leader and minister KTR strongly objected to the Congress demands and said that the Congress had encouraged floor-crossings from the TRS during the 2004-2009 period. He said it was a classic case of pot calling the kettle block.
The Congress on the other hand argued that those defecting should resign and seek re-election.
