ADB Seminar On International Business Opportunities On 12th July At Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) with the support of Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TSIIC), Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and Gayatri Projects Ltd. is organizing “International Business opportunities under Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded projects” event on 12th July, 2019 at 10.30 am at Park Hyatt, Hyderabad. The objective of the seminar is to create awareness amongst Construction Companies, Contractors, Manufacturers, Consulting firms, NGOs, Research Institutions and Professional Organizations about the ADB’s Policy and Procurement methods for Goods, Works and Services

ADB’s country partnership strategy for India aims to accelerate economic transformation by building industrial competitiveness, creating jobs, accelerating growth of low-income states, and addressing

environmental and climate change challenges.

In just a few decades, India has risen to become the world’s third-largest economy (in purchasing power parity terms) and now accounts for nearly 6% of global gross domestic product. Strong economic growth and economic reforms have helped the country reduce its incidence of poverty by more than half since 2004.

India was a founding member of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1966 and is now the bank’s fourth largest shareholder and top borrower. ADB commenced operations in India 1986 and has approved loans totaling US $ 43.81 billion in India as of December 2018 in 699 projects

The current portfolio includes 79 sovereign loans amounting to $13.5 billion, of which $9.9 billion has been awarded and $6.1 billion disbursed. In 2018, ADB committed a record $3.03 billion for 19 sovereign projects to help India develop infrastructure and services in transport, energy, urban development, agriculture and natural resources, finance, and education and training.

Cumulative loan and grant disbursements to India amount to $29.24 billion. These were financed by regular ordinary capital resources, and other special funds.

Mr. Bisma Husen, Principal Procurement Specialist, Procurement, Portfolio and Financial Management Department and Mr. Chandra Mohan Arora, Senior Procurement Officer, South Asia Department will conduct the sessions on ADB Procurement System, Identifying Business Opportunities on the ADB’s website, Procurement Opportunities in ADBs Loan Funded Projects and TA and Forthcoming opportunities under ADB Projects.

Sri Somesh Kumar, I.A.S., Special Chief Secretary, Irrigation & CAD, Sri Sunil Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary Transport, Roads and Buildings, Govt. of Telangana have consented to be the Chief Guest and Sri E. Venkata Narasimha Reddy, VC & MD, TSIIC has consented to be the Guest of Honour at the seminar.
