Airtel Latest Discounts On Broadband Plans To Counter Jio

Mobile network provider Bharti Airtel has announced its plans to boost broadband penetration in rural India. In its latest pilot project, Airtel is set to roll out Broadband Experience Centres, which are powered by the government's BharatNet infrastructure.

The Broadband Experience Centres, which transmit up to 100 mbps of Internet speed, will be established in 30,500 gram panchayats across Uttar Pradesh.

Also, Airtel has also announced discounts on its existing six-month and one-year monthly broadband packages. The discounts are seen as Airtel's reply to Reliance Jio, ahead of its Jio Fiber fixed-line broadband services launch. The Jio Fiber services will offer 100Mbps of broadband connectivity as well as unlimited voice calls and access to Jio TV at a monthly charge of around Rs. 1,000. On the other side, Airtel's broadband services offer up to 300Mbps Internet speed and certain select plans also provide an additional Amazon Prime subscription.

The new airtel discount plans make the 300 Mbps Airtel monthly plan accessible for only Rs 1,758 a month for an year as against Rs 2,199 per month earlier. Users can choose the best packages on the official Airtel website.
