MUMBAI: The much-awaited trailer of Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak is out now which will definitely give you goosebumps. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is an upcoming Hindi film produced by Deepika Padukone and Meghna Gulzar in collaboration with Fox Star Studios.

Based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, the film casts Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey. Deepika is seen playing a lead role of portraying Laxmi Agarwal who was attacked in 2005 by a 32-year-old man after she rejected his advances. Through her story, the film makes an attempt to understand the on-ground consequences of surviving an acid attack in India.

The trailer starts with a shot of protest going on Delhi roads, followed by a reporter asking Vikrant Massey about Malti's (Deepika Padukone) acid attack case. The next scene shows Malti falling on the ground after being attacked by acid. The trailer follows her journey from a victim to a survivor and shows how she won her battle against crime.

Deepika Padukone took to Instagram to announce the trailer release. In the caption, she explained how the story is special and close to her. She wrote, "Rarely do you come across a story where you do not need an entire narration to decide if you want to be a part of a film or not. What is even rarer is to not be able to articulate and put into words what you feel for the film and it's a journey... Chhapaak is all of that and more for me..."

Chhapaak will is slated to hit the screens on 10 January, 2020. Chhapaak will be the first movie to be produced by Deepika Padukone.
