AP Imports 27 Tonnes Of Onions From Egypt To Be Sold In Subsidised Rates - Sakshi Post

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh has imported 27 tonnes of onions from Egypt and has successfully sold it in subsidized rates in the state as prices in India ranged between Rs 120-140 per kilogram.

AP Marketing Department officials said that the government has distributed 15 tonnes of onions at subsidized rate of Rs 25 per kg in Vijayawada Rythu Bazaars.

"The state government had supplied 1,100 tonnes of subsidized onions till now," an official said.

The onions are available at Rythu Bazaars and market yards of Gudivada and Machilipatnam and the state government has been selling it since November 17.

At present, AP is receiving 60-70 tonnes of onions per day from Solapur and Nashik areas in Maharashtra. In the next two-three days, the state government will import more onions from Egypt.
