TADEPALLI: Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) has started the spillway construction of Polavaram Irrigation Project co on Thursday, November 21. Chairman of MEIL Krishna Reddy said that the Polavaram Project’s spillway by is expected to be completed by June 2020.

Krishna Reddy said that MEIL had hired experts who were part of the Kaleshwaram Project for the Polavaram project works. MEIL is expected to finish 100 cubic meters of concrete work on Thursday.

Megha Engineering is making preparations for the completion of these tasks by increasing the percentage of work by the day. MEIL has planned to complete 2000 cubic meters concrete work each day to complete the Polavaram Spillway construction by June 2020.

The MEIL company has acquired the Polvaram contract from AP government through reverse tendering launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister led YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government. The AP government saved RS 782 crore through this reverse tendering.

First, Megha Engineering has repaired the roads of the Polavaram Project, which were damaged due to heavy rains, and made the area suitable for construction.

Three million cubic meters of work on the spillway is yet to be done. 5.3 lakh cubic meters of work in the spill channel. Water storage in the spill channel is high. Megha Engineering will be working on this after the water shortage becomes less.
