50 Houses Gutted In Tanuku Fire - Sakshi Post

Mallikasulapet : A massive fire gutted down over 50 houses near in Mallikasulapet in Tanuku town of West Godavari district. Reasons or causes behind the fire have not been ascertained. No casualities were recorded as many of the inhabitants of these houses had visited the nearby church for Sunday Service.

On receiving information about the massive fire, the fire station dispatched a fire truck to bring the fire under control. As the truck could not wade through the narrow roads of the area , they were trying to douse out the fire by getting the water to reach the houses on flames from over the National Highway Flyover. As it was difficult for the firefighters from just one area to put out the fire, firefighters from Tadepalligudem, Attili, and Elure joined in and brought the fire to a halt.

Tehsildar Prasad reached the spot along with his team to take account of the situation, and assured the people that he will ensure government help to the victims who had lost their belongings in the fire. He also announced an immediate relief amount of Rs 5000 and 10 kgs of rice to the victims.

The Tanuku Municipal Commissioner G Sambasiva Rao, had asked for a dispatch of three Water Tankers to help with putting out the fire. Many Municipal Staff members had also participated in the relief works. CPI leader PV Pratap had demanded that the government look into the issue and give a relief amount of Rs 5 lakh to each of the families who lost everything they owned in the fire.
