Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken all the necessary steps to ensure a better price for the tomato to benefit the farmers and with the immediate orders from CM, tomato purchases have been restarted at Pattikonda market yard in Kurnool district.
According to the reports, YS Jagan sought information about the price drop on tomatoes from the officials and instructed the marketing department to start the purchase of tomatoes. Briefing to the Chief Minister, officials said that they have de-regulated fruits and vegetables so that the farmers can sell without paying any marker fee and agent commission.
YS Jagan orders the officials to take care that no farmer should face problems at any cost. Despite the agents rattled the farmers that they would purchase tomatoes only outside the market, farmers are keen on selling the tomatoes only inside the market.
Marketing Department Commissioner Pradhyumna said that 50 tons of tomatoes have been purchased and the marketing department has purchased five tons using price stabilization funds. Even traders started buying tomatoes in the market.
