Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government appointed senior journalist Devulapalli Amar as the advisor, national media and inter-state affairs to the AP government. His term will be co-terminus with the term of the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and he will be enjoy the status of a Cabinet minister.
Amar has over four decades of experience in journalism and has worked with Eenadu, Andhra Bhoomi, Udayam and Andhra Prabha. Currently, he hosts a popular news programme on Sakshi TV and is also the consulting editor of the Telugu daily.
The senior journalist was also the president of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and is currently the President of Indian Journalists Union (IJU).
In undivided Andhra Pradesh, Amar was the chairman of the AP Press Academy from 2004 to 2009. He is also a member of the Press Council of India (PCI). The appointment of Devulapalli Amar was widely welcomed by journalists across the board.
