Medical Student Foils Kidnap Attempt, Jumps Off Bike

Amalapuram: A female medical student of KIMS medical college in Amalapuram dramatically foiled an attempt staged by a youth to kidnap her. The victim, a student of PG course in medicine, was engaged to a youth.

Meanwhile, Avinash, a previous acquaintance, met the girl who belonged to a wealthy family, outside KIMS hospital in Amalapuram in a car. Avinash was accompanied by his friend Ajay. After telling the victim that he needed to speak to her, he asked her to sit in the car and started proceeding towards Ayinavilli.

The victim sensed that something was amiss and that she could be harmed. Avinash stopped the car at a point where he had a bike waiting, as per his plan, and got out of the car with the girl. His friend Ajay took control of the car as Avinash made the girl sit on his bike and headed towards Yanam-Edurlanka bridge on national highway 216.

The girl, who developed a sixth sense of harm befalling her, jumped off the bike as it approached I. Polavaram police station. Observing this, a constable helped her get up, while Avinash raced away on his bike. The girl was led to the police station where she told the cops details of the incident.

The victim told policemen that Avinash tried to kidnap her and that she feared for her life. Police took Avinash's friend, Ajay of Siripalli in Ayinavilli mandal, into custody and are interrogating him. Police teams have launched a manhunt for the accused, Avinash.
