Amaravati: Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav announced that floods in the State were finally subsiding after about a month long heavy rains and excessive flooding that rocked various parts of the State.

Speaking to press persons here on Monday, Yadav said Ministers, MLAs and officials had worked in tandem to reach out to those affected by floods.

As regards the Krishna floods, the Minister said that for the past 10 days water was being released downstream. From Prakasam Barrage, a total of four lakh cusecs of water was being released into the sea. The flooding in Almatti, Tungabadhra, Srisailam, Sagar and Pulichintala had come down as well, he added.

In the same breath, he lashed out at the TDP alleging that its leaders were indulging in petty politics even during flood and flood-related rehabilitation and rescue. "Chandrababu went away to Hyderabad one day before floods began. He did not come out even once. He did not hold any review on the disaster. This is TDP's brand of politics," he slammed.

On the other hand, he said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was monitoring the situation from the United States of America, where he is currently touring, and coordinating various departments in the State to ensure that help reached the victims at the earliest.
