Govt School Teacher Suspended For Harassing Girl Students

Cheepurupalli, Vizianagaram district: A school teacher who used to behave inappropriately towards girl students, was placed under suspension by district education department authorities. A girl studying tenth standard lodged a police complaint against maths teacher A. Rambabu of the Zilla Parishad High School against his inappropriate conduct towards girl students of her class. As a result, the District Education issued orders suspending him. The DEO, Nagamani visited the school on Saturday and conducted an inquiry.

As a part of the inquiry, she summoned all teachers working in the school and spoke to them. The DEO also interacted with the girl students who were harassed by the maths teacher. Addressing the media later, she said that the maths teacher in question had behaved inappropriately with girl students. Therefore, as per the instructions of the commissioner of school education, he was suspended, she added.

The DEO pointed out that students who studied in government schools not only came from an economically deprived background, but placed immense trust in the system. Teachers should live up to that trust, deliver and not betray the faith students and their parents reposed in the government school system, she remarked. The officer said that she would submit a report on the matter to the collector and commissioner.
