Vijayawada: The State government allocated Irrigation department's old building in Vijayawada for Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the governor. A notification has been issued to this effect.

This comes close on the heels of Centre appointing Biswa Bhushan Harichandan as the new governor of Andhra Pradesh recently.

A decision has been taken to convert the old Irrigation building in Suryaraopeta to Raj Bhavan by the State government on Thursday. Harichandan will be sworn in as governor on July 24. High Court Chief Justice Praveen Kumar will administer the oath of office.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Mukesh Kumar who is currently working as Secretary to the Tribal Welfare department has been given full additional charge as secretary to the new governor.
