Pulivendula: Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded a CBI probe into the death of his uncle, former minister and MP,YS Vivekananda Reddy. YS Jagan told media persons here on Friday evening that he had no faith in the state government.

This was a political murder and had to be investigated by an independent agency for the entire conspiracy to be unravelled. YS Jagan further said that his uncle was brutally attacked in his bedroom with an axe and seven wounds inflicted. The murderers shifted his body to the bathroom to make it seem as if he felt giddy and fell down. They even smeared the commode with blood, he pointed out.

The YSRCP chief observed that a 'letter' was fabricated to make his driver a scapegoat. Only a thorough CBI inquiry would bring out the truth, he said. The state police did not take up the case with the required seriousness, he remarked. YS Jagan pointed out that even as he was with the SP, the state Additional DG of Intelligence, Venkateswara Rao, a close associate of the chief minister, kept calling the police official he said.

YS Jagan said that his family members had been targeted in many instances earlier. His grandfather was murdered and his father, late Rajasekhara Reddy died in suspicious circumstances in a helicopter crash on September 02, 2009, he said. The Leader of Opposition pointed out that a murder attempt was carried out on him at the Visakhapatnam airport on October 25, 2018. The Chandrababu Naidu government constituted a toothless SIT in the matter.
