Distinguished bureaucrat Sri Valluri Kameswara Rao, ICS died at the age of 104 on Tuesday. Sri Rao joined the ICS in 1937, after successful graduation from Cambridge University. Sri Rao held various positions such as Chief Secretary of undivided AP, Advisor to the Governor of AP during President's rule, Vigilance Commissioner of AP and Secretary to the President (Sri N Sanjeev Reddy during 1981-82).

A role model for the members of the civil services, he was held in high esteem by Sri N Sanjeev Reddy, Sri K Brahmananda Reddy and Sri vengal Rao.

He is survived by his son, Narayan Valluri, also a retired IAS officer, and two daughters.
