Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Irrigation and Water Resources, P Anil Kumar Yadav issued a statement highlighting the fact that the media close to the Opposition was spreading false news about the Polavaram Reverse Tendering process.
In a statement released on Sunday, Anil Kumar said that during Chandrababu's regime Crores of money changed hands in the Polavaram project, but at that time why did not Eenadu MD Ramoji Rao write about the corruption in his paper.
This statement was released in response to an article written in the vernacular paper against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy alleging favouritism.
The Reverse Tendering process will benefit the Government and people by 20 percent and save Crores of Rupees. Despite knowing this why are they are posting false information, he questioned.
He also spoke about the fact that even after assuming charge as Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu did nothing for the project completion for more than 31 months. Another fact was that on September 8th, 2016 Chandrababu had an agreement to construct the Polavaram Project with the centre by not asking for Special Category Status. In fact, it was he who had entrusted the project to people close to him.
He further clarified that unlike Chandrababu who had hiked the estimations, the Government is in the process of reducing the project cost and has called for tenders. This is happening for the first time in the country where the reverse tendering process was called for to ensure transparency and zero corruption. The people of Andhra Pradesh have understood this and will not believe in the Yellow Media writings in future, he said.
