Guntur: Former speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao admitted to bringing expensive furniture from the assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh to his house in Sattenapalli. The former speaker acknowledged to bringing costly items of furniture. It was reported earlier that some items of furniture and computers had gone missing after the division of the state.

After the YSRCP government came to power, it probed the matter and subsequently, the assembly secretary sent notices to the former speaker on unauthorised shifting of furniture to his house. Kodela reportedly did not respond to these notices. Moreover, he came up with a bizarre explanation that the letters he wrote to the officials may not have reached them. Kodela said that he was ready to return the items of furniture or pay for them if the amount was specified.

YSRCP  Narsaraopeta MLA Slams Kodela

YSRCP MLA from Narsaraopeta Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy lambasted former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh assembly Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on the issue of Kodela bringing items of furniture home unauthorisedly. Kodela had earlier admitted to bringing these pieces of furniture home. Kodela further said that he had written to the authorities to collect them or that he would pay the valued amount. However, Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy slammed Kodela saying that men like him were unfit for politics. The YSRCP MLA said that in addition to corruption and excesses, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao had resorted to theft, which was unfortunate.
Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy said that the furniture carted away from the furniture was kept in Gautam Honda showroom in Guntur. Kodela admitted to his wrongdoing after officials pointed this out, he said. The YSRCP MLA added that he was not revealing certain things because he did not wish to tarnish the reputation of Narasaraopeta. If Kodela needed money they were ready to collect funds and help him, the Narsaraopeta MLA said.
