Amaravati: Taking a dig at TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said the task of designing new capital Amaravati was handed over to film director Rajamouli after the former having gone round the globe searching for the best designers.
Responding to various issues raised by Opposition benches in the Assembly, Reddy on Wednesday said, of Rs 1700 crore spent on the capital, the Centre had contributed more than half, while the TDP government had only released Rs 277 crore.
Stating that the buildings constructed by TDP government were in such deplorable condition that water was already seeping into structures due to rains, he informed the House that they had earmarked Rs 500 crore towards capital development in their maiden budget.
He maintained that the taxes levied on the people were much less than what TDP had imposed in its last vote-on-account budget. Further, he also promised to enhance the budget earmarked for interest-free loans much more than what was being given in the next budget.
