Senior YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Vijay Sai Reddy ridiculed former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for dragging his feet over the Polavaram project for five years. Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Vijay Sai Reddy pointed out the Telangana government completed Kaleshwaram project in three years with state govt funding.
The project would now irrigate 45 lakh acres of land, he added. In contrast, Chandrababu Naidu could not complete the Polavaram project despite Central funding. The only thing that mattered to Chandrababu Naidu was how to loot public money, Vijay Sai Reddy pointed out in his tweet.
The Kaleshwaram project was inaugurated on Friday morning by Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the presence of the governor ESL Narasimhan. Chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Devendra Fadnavis were chief guests at the event.
Described as the largest lift irrigation project in the world, Kaleshwaram would turn 45 lakh acres in the comparatively dry state of Telangana into a verdant region.
