Kotagiri Sridhar Will Wrest Eluru From Maganti Babu

Kotagiri Sridhar - Sakshi Post

Maganti Babu won the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Eluru constituency with a majority of over a lakh votes. However, in the five years that followed, residents of the constituency say that he forgot all about Eluru. Moreover, there are serious charges of the MP turning his house into a gambling den.

People here are furious that the Lok Sabha MP from TDP did not pay attention to the problems of families displaced by the Polavaram project. Political analysts say that the voters of Eluru seem to have made up their mind to teach Maganti Babu, a lesson.

Observers say that it was their resentment against the Chandrababu Naidu government, as also the sitting MP which made people stand in long queues till midnight in order to vote. All round corruption and total absence of development in Eluru are said to be strong reasons for growing anger against the MP. Groupism and internal differences with other TDP MLAs have made things even more difficult for Maganti Babu. Many of them are said to have stayed away from the campaign or joined it very late. While Maganti Babu wanted an assembly ticket, he was given an opportunity to fight the Lok Sabha election without enough time to campaign, media reports say.

Meanwhile the YSRCP candidate from Eluru, Kotagiri Sridhar is set to wrest the seat analysts say. His father, Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao was a popular politician in the region and Sridhar enjoys enormous goodwill on this count. Sridhar is popular with the locals and has been successful in driving the party campaign. He familiarised the people of the region with all aspects of Navaratnalu in a short period of time. Added to this, YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy‘s assurance on Kolleru and other problems have helped Sridhar’s candidature tremendously. Eluru, as things stand, hopes to see Kotagiri Sridhar as it’s new Lok Sabha representative.
