The YSR Congress Party today greeted its honourable president YS Vijayamma on the occasion of her birthday.
Vijayamma symbolizes courage, grit and single-mindedness of purpose braving all odds stacked up against her and members of her family, particularly after the tragic demise of Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. His passing away in a tragic air mishap in 2009 turned YS Vijayamma's world upside down. The sedate pace of her life was disrupted completely as she was overtaken by this tragedy which struck their lives. To make matters worse, the Congress leadership refused to let her son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to visit the families of those who died of a heart attack or committed suicide upon hearing the news of Dr YSR's untimely demise.
When YS Jagan was determined to fulfill his moral obligation towards that families, the Congress ganged up with the TDP and foisted several cases upon YS Jagan. This led to his imprisonment for over a year.
This was yet another dark phase in her life which forced YS Vijayamma to step out of the shadows and tell the masses about the vindictive Congress and the conspiracies being hatched against her son and members of her family.
Each time YS Vijayamma was put to such a test, she emerged stronger. when her son, who as Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh, was attacked murderously at the Vizag airport last October, YS Vijayamma, other members of their family as also the entire state was shocked by the audacity of the attempt. However, YS Jagan moved on and continued his Praja Sankalpa Yatra and enjoyed the full support of his mother and other members of the family.
In the run up to the elections held on April 11, YS Vijayamma along with her daughter YS Sharmila campaigned extensively across Andhra Pradesh. Her election rallies drew large crowds everywhere and struck a chord among the people. Her disarming straight forwardness, authentic simplicity and uncomplicated approach to the subjects she broached endeared her to the masses throughout the state.
Sakshipost wishes her a very happy birthday and we hope she continues to be a source of inspiration to millions of such women who face hardships.
