Sitting MP Galla Jayadev Rarely Visits Guntur: Modugula

Guntur: Modugula Venugopala Reddy, the YSRCP candidate for Guntur Parliament constituency, while emphasizing on the fact that he will mount pressure at the center for Special Category Status(SCS) for AP, said that when he was MP, he was against the state's bifurcation in the parliament and protested against it.

"I will try to get SCS for the development of the state," he said.

He was MP during the 2009 to 2014 term and was the MLA for Guntur east from 2014 to 2019. In an interview with a local daily, he said that he will work towards the development of the state.

He added that he would set up a municipal corporation in the capital and develop the core capital area.

Presently it is the CRDA that is taking care or the state capital Amaravati, and felt that construction of a central railway station, airstrip for landing mini-aircraft and Central Bus Station at Amaravati was unnecessary.

He was reminded of how the Karnataka Government gave free land to build the new railway line, similarly, he said he would mount pressure on the center for land to be given free of cost for a railway line to Amaravati if he was elected to the parliament.

He also promised to acquire over Rs 1000 Crore from the center to construct flyovers, roads and under Bridges in Guntur city and for the smooth flow of traffic. He promised to make Guntur a model city.

He has also made promises to set up agro-based industries for a value add to chilli, tobacco and cotton farmers besides the spice park in the constituency.

He also promised to work on the underground drainage facility and implement a scheme which provides drinking water 24X7.

He was referring to sitting MP Galla Jayadev and said that he was a non-local who will not be available for the people.

He also said that it was regretful that people who cannot read or write Telugu have become MPs. He also said that the sitting MP rarely visited the city of Guntur.

He expressed confidence in winning the coming elections.
