Chandragiri/Chittor: Chandragiri Assembly constituency is located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and comes under the Chittoor (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. It is among the 14 constituencies in Chittoor district.
The constituency which is close to Tirupati has seven mandals - Tirupati (Rural), Chandragiri, Pakala, Ramachandrapuram, Chinnagottigallu and Yerravaripalem mandals.
Tirupati (Urban) Mandal (Part) Konkachennaiahgunta, Mangalam and Chennayyagunta Villages.
As per the estimates of 2011 census, out of a total 3,40,234 population 74.64% is rural and 25.36% is urban population.
According to the voter list of 2018, there are 2,51,341 voters and 298 polling stations in this constituency. Voter turnout in the 2014 assembly election was 79.83% where as it was 79.3% in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.
The BJP, the INC, the YSRCP and the TDP got %, 2.33%, 48.88% and 46.7% votes respectively in 2014 Assembly Election while %, 1.94%, 47.12% and 48.17% in 2014 Parliamentary Election respectively.

Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy is a law graduate and a PhD in Sociology from Tirupati SV University and was an active student leader there. He started of his political career at a young age and became a ZPTC (Zilla Parishad Member) at the age of 27 .
A staunch Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy follower, he was initiated into politics by the late leader and went on to become Chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) in 2007.
In 2014 he contested the AP Elections and defeated Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader two-time minister, Galla Aruna Kumari by a margin of around 3,500 votes and established the YRSCP stronghold in this region.
He was the first Reddy candidate to win this Kamma-dominated constituency. Incidentally, TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu won his maiden election from here in 1978.
The YSRCP MLA has staged several protests and dharnas against the ruling TDP regime for the development causes of the constituency. Chevireddy was also arrested and jailed several times for being vocal about the issues
His recent protest against the arrest of YSRCP workers and villagers who caught people carrying out bogus surveys and indulging in electoral malpractices resulted in the Chittoor police arresting him and putting him through humiliation, wherein he was made to sit in a police vehicle and taken around the neighbouring places. But he has held his dignity and composure and continues to work for the cause of the Chandragiri people.
Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy will be pitted against the TDP District president Pulivarthy Nani for the Chandragiri Assembly elections to be held on April 11 , 2019.
