The loss of YS Vivekananda Reddy, younger brother of late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy has come as a bolt from the blue to the people of Pulivendula and Kadapa.

YS Vivekananda Reddy, a former legislato, minister and member of Parliament was an extremely popular public figure in the area. The mild mannered leader would go out of his way to resolve people's issues.

As Rajya Sabha member and senior YSRCP leader V Vijayasai Reddy recollected, YS Vivekananda Reddy would go to the man on the street, stop by at a tea shop and find out about the problems in his constituency.

Simple and unassuming, YS Vivekananda Reddy worked with sincerity and commitment to alleviate the suffering of the needy sections of society. Several leaders recalled the manner in which the self effacing YS Vivekananda Reddy would go to ministers during late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure, not as the chief minister's brother but as a representative of the people taking their concerns to the ministers for redress. Such was his simplicity, they recollected. A stateman-like figure in the region, YS Vivekananda Reddy was known for his acts of charity and his concern for the poor people of Pulivendula and Kadapa in particular as also the people of the state in general.

Pulivendula citizens lamented that their leader's demise has left them orphaned and created a void in their lives.
