Hyderabad: Another popular character artist from the Telugu film industry Raja Ravindra joined the YSR Congress Party on Wednesday morning. He met the YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad and officially joined the party.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the YSRCP chief, he said that he was inspired by YS Jagan's leadership capabilities and wanted to join the party.
Raveendra made it clear that he was not interested in contesting and that he would support the party fully by campaigning on behalf of the YSRCP party he said. He also said that he would work hard and ensure victory for YS Jagan and the YSRCP in the elections.
Earlier in the morning prominent industrialist Potluri Vara Prasad also joined the YSRCP along with Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham and wife Thota Vani .They met YS Jagan and officially joined the party. Former MLA from Palakollu Dr CH Satyanarayana Murthy (Babji) joined the YSRCP on Tuesday.
Senior Telugu comedian and actor Ali earlier joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Monday, putting all rumours to rest about his political leanings. Popular actress and former MP Jaya Sudha who was with Telugu Desam party also joined the YSRCP party leader and expressed her intention to work with the party.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) which is at the receiving end and is facing a tidal wave of anti-incumbency is witnessing a major exodus of its party leaders into the YSRCP. Dissidents and dissent in the ruling TDP is said to have peaked in recent days.
There is widespread resentment against sitting MLAs in many constituencies of the district. It is learnt that party workers have been questioning the leadership and have been pressing on it not to give tickets to such unpopular local figures.
If the TDP leadership goes ahead and gives tickets to such leaders, they could get defeated, party workers are supposed to have clearly told the high command.
