Vijayawada: Former minister and Congress party senior leader Vatti Vasanth Kumar blamed TDP government's unnecessary publicity for Polavaram when, in reality, there was no progress. He expressed his surprise over Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao's criticism of Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Speaking to media here today, he appreciated YS Jagan for questioning TDP government's corrupt practices in executing the prestigious Polavaram project.
The Congress leader said Godavari delta people were put to a serious loss due to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's attitude. He said that with Pattiseema project, the AP CM was creating irreparable loss to the people on Godavari delta. The TDP government was transporting water from Godavari at their whims and fancies. "The state government kept harping on the release of Rs 6020 crores was released as per GO 51, and that 73 tmc water would be transported to Penna river. But Bachawat Tribunal's award is clear and said that Godavari water should not be transported," he said.
Brushing aside all the rules and regulations, Chandrababu was behaving in an authoritarian manner, he added.
