5 Of Family, Driver Dead After Car Crushed Under Dumper In Delhi

New Delhi, July 26: Six people including a 14-year-old girl were killed and three others injured after two vehicles collided near Mayur Vihar on National Highway (NH)-24 in East Delhi in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The incident took place around 3am. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, according to news agency ANI. NH-24 connects Delhi with Uttar Pradesh. Five of the deceased belonged to one family and the sixth one was the driver. They were traveling from the Delhi airport to Meerut.

The dumber that went berserk and hit the Innova car belongs to Delhi Municipal Corporation.

ANI quoted an eyewitness as saying: “A dumper jumped off the divider and hit an Innova, carrying a total of nine people.” He also said, “Five people died on the spot and four others were taken to a hospital. One succumbed to injuries later.”

“It was a horrific accident as the sound was too much. It felt as if a bomb has exploded,” he added.

The police are investigating the case.
