Birthday parties soon would be a lot less fun and the children would soon forget what a chocolate is. Even as chocolate consumption is rising rapidly, the production might come down. All this, thanks to global warming.

Cocoa trees, from which chocolate is made, will find the weather vagaries too difficult to handle. With the humid rain forest like conditions near equator, considered most favourable for the cacao trees, changing due to global warming, growing the trees could become all the more difficult. So, By 2050, getting a good cocoa crop would become very difficult. Scientists warn that the temperature could rise by 2.1 degrees in the coming 30 years.

This also means that the economy of two countries that produce most of the cocoa that the world consumes, will be badly hit.
