Even as roads and highways are muddied following heavy downpour all over East Godavari, Day 210 of Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, entered Anaparthi constituency yesterday, during the course of his mass contact initiative, Praja Sankalpa Yatra, to a rousing reception. Unmindful of the soiled roads, the YSRCP chief moved forward greeting thousands of people who lined the padayatra route to welcome him.
Women waited patiently on muddy roads to interact with YS Jagan, or catch a glimpse of the mass leader. In Komaripalem, for instance, villagers welcomed the YSRCP chief with a floral carpet. Farm workers working in fields came bounding through the green expanse to meet YS Jagan, as the Padayatra moved from one village to another.
Villagers everywhere--Rayavaram,Pandalapaka, Komaripalem, Tossipudi Cross and Ulapalli swarmed to the padayatra route. Many villagers interacted with the mass leader to narrate their problems. YS Jagan heard them out patiently and assured them of a lasting solution in many instances, under Rajanna Rajyam.
Villagers in all places had a common grievance--the mushrooming of belt shops. Women pointed out that liquor addiction was destroying the age-old social fabric. They told YS Jagan that youngsters were getting increasingly addicted to liquor, playing havoc with community life. The Leader of Opposition assured them that the menace would be checked under Rajanna Rajyam.
Girl students pointed out that because of the location of their college in the middle of agricultural land, they were constantly tormented by the fear of snakes and scorpions. They requested YS Jagan to ensure that the college was located elsewhere on account of this factor, apart from the inconvenience caused.
Muslims from Anaparthi complained that the ruling party had turned local mosques, which were to be run by the waqf board, into centres of political activity. YS Jagan assured all groups of justice, all along the padayatra.
