Rajahmundry: Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's poular mass contact programme Praja Sankalpa Yatra entered East Godavari district after crossing the historic Godavari bridge this evening. Even as the YSRCP president's historic padayatra was passing the iconic Godavari bridge, many enthusiasts and party supporters tried joining the padayatra by climbing the rounded staircase near Kumari theater here. The police obstructed them saying the staircase was not strong enough to hold so many people.
Miffed by the police behaviour and wanting to get a glimpse of the people's leader, the public and party workers insisted that they be allowed to go on top of the bridge. This created a few tense moments. The huge gathering of people demanded that they be allowed to take the staircase. Sensing the situation was going out of control, the police placed barbed wires around the area. Disappointed and angry YSRCP workers had to finally give in to the police instruction and step back.
