YSR Congress Party honourary President, YS Vijayamma sat down with her party's fasting MPs at AP Bhavan in New Delhi. It's worth mentioning here that she went there to meet the party MPs in place of party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who's on his padayatra.
She paid a visit to Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy who's being treated at a hospital after his health condition worsened.
The YSRCP honourary president on Monday expressed her solidarity with the fasting MPs by sitting on the deeksha with them at AP Bhavan. It may be recalled that 5 YSRCP MPs tendered their resignations to their Lok Sabha posts to protest against the Centre's stand on granting Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. They later went on a hunger strike at AP Bhavan which has now entered its 4th day. YSRCP MPs Midhun Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, YV Subba Reddy and Varaprasad are among those fasting for the sake of special category status to the state.
MP Midhun Reddy said that it was high time that the ruling Telugu Desam party MPs parked their political ambitions aside and joined the deeksha to bring pressure on the government to soften its stand on SCS. He also reminded them that this was in the interest of the state. Andhra Pradesh is neck-deep in debt and only SCS can help salvage the situation, he added. Chandrababu had obstructed YSRCP's struggle for SCS in the past and has never once raised the issue in the last four years of his rule. The same person who had settled for a special package saying SCS wouldn't benefit the state much, he has now taken a U-turn after realising that people had turned against him over his decision to mortgage the interests of the state.
