Hyderabad: In a major blow to Telangana Congress, senior leader and MLC Damodar Reddy is set to leave the party for Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The stage is set for his shifting to the ruling party in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR).

According to reports, Damodar Reddy will join the party along with many of his fans and party workers.

Damodar Reddy, who has a stronghold in his home constituency, Nagarkurnool, publicly opposed senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy's recent entry into the Congress. It is learnt that the MLC met with Congress President Rahul Gandhi and discussed the issue of Nagam's joining. Upset with Nagam's entry into the Congress, Damodar Reddy decided to leave the party. Despite DK Aruna's efforts to convince him, Damodar Reddy decided to leave the party.
