Nalgonda: The local police detained an auto trolley that was carrying cash worth Rs 40 crores from a State Bank of India branch to a Gramin Vikas Bank branch here on Thursday. The incident became a hot topic of discussion in the town after unknown persons informed the police about the open movement of cash. According to the police, officers of the State Bank Main Branch in the district headquarters did not take any protective measures for the transfer of money.
After receiving the information from unknown persons, CI Basha and SI Chandra Shekhar reached the bank. "Large amounts of cash always have to be transported either by the bank's security vehicle or by seeking our help. This is not a safe way to transport cash," they are believed to have suggested to the bank officials.
However, bank manager Shiva Kumar said that the cash transfer has been taken up under the surveilance of the security guards. Later, the police made sure that the cash reached the destination amid tight security.
