Hyderabad: It was a great relief from the heatwave for Hyderabadis as a sudden downpour cooled the city last night. While a few people welcomed the summer showers, commuters had a tough time after they were stuck in traffic. The inundated roads and pot holes made it impossible to drive.
Trees were also uprooted in several areas because of the thunderstorm and blocked roads as heavy rains lashed city.
The downpour also left several parts of the city in dark. People in areas like Kompally, Secunderabad, Bowenpally, Hyderguda, Jayanagar, Moosarambagh, Falaknuma and other regions suffered power outage.
The downpour followed by the gusty winds hit areas like Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, Kukatpally, Nampally and Erragadda hard.
The reason for the sudden rainfall is the cumulonimbus clouds formed over the city. According to Indian Meteorological Department, the rainfall will also continue today.
